Birmingham manufacturer set for expansion after landing Apollo

One of Birmingham’s oldest family businesses has revealed plans for a major expansion, underpinned by a move to new premises.

Salts Healthcare is relocating to a new base at the Advanced Manufacturing Hub on the outskirts of the city centre.

The company has agreed terms to move into 94,500 sq ft Apollo unit speculatively-built by

Trebor Developments, in conjunction with funding partner Aviva Investors Pensions.

Salts Healthcare is believed to be one of the oldest manufacturers in the country, with the family business tracing its origins to 1701.

Salts is split into three divisions: Salts Stoma Care, which designs and manufactures stoma care devices and additional products; Salts Medilink, a national network of 19 Customer Care Centres that supply and dispense stoma care and continence products; and Salts Techstep, an established leader in the manufacture of custom-made orthoses.

As part of the expansion it will be relocating its high tech and innovative manufacturing and assembly operations to supplement its other operations in the Birmingham area.
